You don’t need to panic immediately. However, it is advisable to have the damage checked promptly and to avoid further stress until then. Cover the stone chip as much as possible with a clean, transparent protective sticker. This way, less moisture and dirt can enter the damaged area.
Avoid strong temperature differences. Do not direct the heater at full power onto the cold windshield, and do not pour hot water over it in winter.
